B.J. has been a women’s health care nurse practitioner since 1977. She became a CNM in 1991. She holds a Ph.D. in nursing from the Oregon Health Sciences University. B.J. is nationally renown for her work in advancing midwifery care and assisting women in achieving their desired birth experiences. Her expertise extends to the postpartum period as a lactation specialist with years of experience helping women initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies. She has been the director of selected midwifery education programs, most recently the University of Southern California and California State University-Fullerton.
